Faridabad is the largest city (according to population) in the north India state of Haryana. Faridabad, was founded in 1607 AD by Sheikh Farid, the treasurer of Emperor Jahangir and a Sufi saint, in order to protect the highway passing through the town. It became the official 12th District of the State on 15th August, 1979 and has been named after its founder. Faridabad has been described as eighth fastest growing city in the world and third most in India (according to survey) and this District Sub Division namely Faridabad, Ballabgarh, Palwal, Hodal and Hathin.

Hello Guys, Let's know about the District Palwal (Haryana)

       Welcome to the Gyan ki Pathshala and today we discussed about District Palwal (21st District of Haryana State in northern India).

     

  HISTORY

• Palwal is supposed to figure in the earliest Aryan traditions under the name of Apelava, part of the Pandava kingdom of Inderparasth, which was later restored by Vikaradiya. 
• During the British period, Palwal was a part of the Punjab Province and Gurgaon district. Many people from Palwal participated in the 1857 Revolt against the British forces. Hayat Ali and Khairat Ali were martyed along with 17 people from Palwal. Hayat Ali was taken to  Delhi and hanged, and a large number of arrest warrants were issued.
• Mahatma Gandhi ji was first arrested at Palwal's railway station. The building Gandhi Ashrama was erected in the memory of the incident
• On 15 August 1979, Gurugram District was divided, with Palwal becoming part of the new Faridabad District. Finally Palwal became the 21st district of Haryana on 15 August 2008.
